Application scenarios
CIP/SIP system: Tank liquid level control for cleaning solutions/sterilization solutions (such as acids, alkalis, hot water).
Ingredient tank/mixing tank: Monitors the liquid levels of media such as syrup, fruit juice, milk, and medicinal liquid to achieve automatic ingredient mixing and prevent overflow.
Liquid storage tanks: Liquid level monitoring of purified water and water for injection (WFI) storage tanks.
Fermentation tank/bioreactor: Monitor the liquid level of the culture medium.
Filling line: Liquid level control of the storage tank to ensure continuous filling.
Core functions and key points for selection
Material: It must be made of 316L stainless steel. The parts in contact with the medium are mirror-polished (Ra ≤ 0.8µm), with no dead corners, and are easy to clean and sterilize thoroughly.
Connection method: Use sanitary clamps (such as Tri-Clamp), chuck type or sterile flange connection.
Sealing material: Silicone or PTFE approved by FDA, EC1935 or USP Class VI must be used to ensure no contamination.
Function: Ensure the hygiene and safety of the production process, comply with GMP, FDA and other regulatory requirements, and achieve automated control.
2. Paper and pulp industry
Application scenarios
Liquid medicine tank
Cooking pot: Monitors the liquid levels of corrosive chemicals such as black liquor and white liquor.
Bleaching tower/washing machine: Monitor the liquid levels of bleaching agents such as chlorine dioxide, sodium hydroxide, and hydrogen peroxide.
Pulp tank: Monitors the liquid level of pulp suspension. In this scenario, it is necessary to pay attention to the risk of entanglement or blockage that the medium viscosity and fibers may cause to the float ball.
Clear water/white water system: Monitor the liquid levels of process water and reclaimed water.
Paint preparation tank: Monitor the liquid level of coating pigments (such as kaolin, calcium carbonate).
Core functions and key points for selection
Corrosion resistance: The parts in contact with chemical solutions must be made of corrosion-resistant plastics such as PP and PVDF or special stainless steel.
Anti-slurry accumulation: For slurry, the sensor structure should be as simple and smooth as possible to minimize material adhesion. Sometimes, large float balls are selected to provide greater buoyancy and overcome the resistance of viscous media.
Function: Ensure continuous production, prevent shortage or leakage of chemical solutions, and reduce equipment corrosion and environmental pollution.
3. Water treatment industry
Application scenarios
Pump control
Sump/sewage tank: Control the start and stop of submersible pumps to prevent dry running and overflow.
Clear water tank: Controls the start and stop of the water supply pump.
Chemical dosing system
Storage tank: Monitors the liquid levels of PAC (polyaluminium chloride), PAM (polyacrylamide), acids, bases and other chemicals, and realizes low liquid level alarm to remind for dosing.
Process tank
Sedimentation tank, flocculation tank, aeration tank: Monitor the liquid level in the tank and control the process.
Membrane treatment system
Ultrafiltration/reverse osmosis system: Monitor the liquid levels of the product water tank and the intermediate water tank.
Core functions and key points for selection
Corrosion resistance and anti-clogging: For sewage and sludge environments, plastic (PP) or stainless steel materials are selected, and considering the possible impurities they may contain, structures that are less prone to entanglement are chosen.
Multi-point control: Multiple float balls can be integrated on one sensor to achieve multi-level control (such as stopping the pump at low liquid level, starting the pump at high liquid level, and alarming at ultra-high liquid level).
Function: To achieve fully automatic operation of the water treatment process, protect key equipment such as water pumps, precisely control the addition of chemicals, and save costs.
4. Power plants, petrochemical and pulp industries (Heavy industry)

Power plant
Boiler drum: Although it is an important application, modern large boilers now mostly use more precise differential pressure transmitters. The float switch can still be used for liquid level control and alarm of boiler feed water tanks and deaerator water tanks.
Condenser hot water well: Controls the condensate pump.
Lubricating oil tank: Liquid level monitoring of lubricating oil tanks for large equipment such as steam turbines and generators.
Petrochemical
Fuel storage tanks: High and low limit alarms for liquid levels in intermediate storage tanks such as diesel and heavy oil. Products with explosion-proof certifications (such as ATEX, IECEx) must be used.
Chemical raw material storage tanks: Liquid level control for various acid, alkali and solvent storage tanks.

High pressure and temperature resistance: Sensors with rated pressure and temperature far higher than the actual working conditions must be selected.
Intrinsic safety explosion-proof: In potentially explosive environments, the explosion-proof grade is the primary basis for selection.
Function: As a key process safety instrument, it prevents equipment damage (such as oil cut-off of steam turbines), stops the leakage of hazardous media, and ensures production and personnel safety.
5. Boiler system
Application scenarios
Boiler feed water tank: Monitor the liquid level of softened water/demineralized water. Start automatic water replenishment when the liquid level is low and stop when the liquid level is high. This is one of the most common and important applications.
Expansion tank/constant pressure tank: Monitor the water level of the system pressure maintenance device.
Condensate water recovery tank: Monitors the liquid level of the recovered condensate water and controls the start and stop of the recovery pump.
(Auxiliary) Boiler drum: As a redundant, direct mechanical liquid level alarm device, it serves as a backup for electronic instruments, providing extremely high safety.
Core functions and key points for selection
Reliability first: A malfunction in the liquid level control of the boiler system may lead to dry burning (explosion) or full water (water hammer), which is a catastrophic accident. Float switches are often used as the last line of defense for safety due to their simple principle and high reliability.
High-temperature and high-pressure adaptation: It is necessary to use a high-pressure float switch dedicated to boilers, whose connection threads and shell strength have been specially designed.
Function: Ensure the safe operation of boilers, automate water supply, and prevent major safety accidents.
