Global supply chain restructuring is driving a new pattern in the geographical distribution of industrial sensors

2025-05-08

Due to the restructuring of the global supply chain, the industrial sensor industry is undergoing significant geographical changes. Boston Consulting Group's latest research shows that in 2023, the Asia-Pacific region surpassed Europe and the United States for the first time, becoming the world's largest industrial sensor application market, accounting for 42%.

In Southeast Asia, the rapid development of Vietnam's electronics manufacturing industry has led to a surge in demand for industrial sensors. Samsung Electronics has deployed more than 30,000 sets of high-precision vision sensors at its production site in Vietnam for quality inspection of smartphone components. These sensors increase inspection accuracy to 99.98% and reduce the need for manual inspection by 70%." Vietnam is becoming a new hub for global electronics manufacturing, which is directly driving the boom in the industrial sensors market, "said a local industry analyst.

As an important destination for North American manufacturing, Mexico is also experiencing rapid growth in industrial sensor applications. An American auto parts supplier has used German-made smart sensors in its new plant in Mexico to automate the entire assembly process. The project increased production efficiency by 25% and reduced the product defect rate to less than 0.1%.

It is worth noting that the Middle East is also accelerating industrial sensor applications. Saudi Aramco has deployed more than 10,000 high-temperature and high-Pressure Sensors in its new smart field project, enabling remote real-time monitoring of well conditions. These sensors are made of special anticorrosive materials and can operate stably in extreme environments for more than 5 years.

Market research institutions point out that the global industrial sensor industry is showing three new trends: first, the regional supply chain to promote local sensor solutions; Second, the market growth rate of developing countries is much higher than that of developed countries. Third, sensor manufacturers are accelerating the establishment of localized service networks around the world. It is expected that by 2026, the industrial sensor market in the Asia-Pacific region will account for more than 50% of the global total, and the global industrial pattern will be fundamentally changed.
